Eclectic Is as Eclectic Does.

"Fill your page with the breathings of your heart."                   William Wordsworth

So, here I sit at my computer, probably five years too late. Blogging. Really? Blogging? Somewhere, an English Professor's hair just caught fire, I'm sure of it. The immediate nature of blogging is a sublime fit for my natural procrastinating demeanor, though not a little intimidating as well - the fear of over-sharing (a life-long affliction) and balancing a private/public persona has been the paralyzing factor up to now.

What am I blogging about? Well, this isn't going to be a family blog, but there will definitely be a lot of them in here (apologies to my teen and nearly-teen in advance. The littles will probably enjoy the attention).

The (Destructive) Force is strong with this one....

It's not a political blog, religious blog, parenting blog, a cooking blog, or a writing blog, nor a fitness blog, but there will be bits and pieces of all of that on here, as well.

There will be favorite quotes, amusing life stories, movie reviews, occasional rants, poetry and short stories, travel info, art, Frankenstein-ish baking and cooking explorations, reviews of local parks, trails and restaurants, home improvement ideas (and by ideas, I mostly mean woes and regrets), etc.

When Sweet Potatoes Go So Very Wrong.

And then there's the "other" stuff. Oddities, Steampunk, Cons, Doctor Who and Sherlock geek-outs, Gaming and game reviews (mostly board games - I'm not a "gamer", as in video games), fangirl silliness....Basically, an excuse to nerd it up real good.

I love to watch it on mute....

My soul craves creativity, and I need to feed that craving. Having a creative voice is easier and harder than it used to be in bygone days. Where once information was placed before you in the evening paper, carefully written, selected, and edited before consumption, now any Yahoo (raising hand) can slap together a blog, and BAM! Instant viewing of one's personal viewpoint can occur. Daunting, but also easy to scoff at it, since virtually anyone can do it.

I'm joining a sea of voices and opinions, an ocean of ideas and thoughts. If anyone reads this blog and enjoys it on any level, then it is a success. Since I tend to be a fairly eclectic thinker and can suffer from sadistic levels of indecision (thanks, ADHD), I will gladly accept suggestions and ideas for future posts.

In a nutshell (see what I did there?), I'm using this blog to express the crazy and the mundane, the silly and the serious aspects of my life and community. Who knows? Maybe while writing this blog I will find my compass and this will shift, becoming more focused and narrowed.

I kind of hope not.

I started with Wordsworth, and now I'll leave you with this till next time.

"Language is a process of free creation; its laws and principles are fixed, but the manner in which the principles of generation are used is free and infinitely varied. Even the interpretation and use of words involves a process of free creation."Noam Chomsky
